October 2017 – PCB Manufacturer from Southern China visits Upstate NY
The Founder and CEO of a printed circuit board manufacturing company in southern China and members of his company and family visited New York State, including Syracuse and several other Upstate NY cities, in mid-October, 2017. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the U.S. and New York State, visit a specialty materials manufacturer to discuss collaboration, and tour some area high schools and universities as prospects for their children. As always, sightseeing and shopping were important secondary goals for our first-time visitors to the U.S.
The trip was a success according to all eight members of the delegation. The meeting with the specialty materials manufacturer resulted in commitments by both parties to forge a long-term collaboration which will bring economic benefit to both China and Upstate NY. The high school and university visits provided our visitors with insights into the American system of education and helped them formulate a strategy for getting their children into American schools. All members of the group had opportunities to shop at the Woodbury and Waterloo Outlets and Destiny USA, and their sightseeing opportunities included New York City, West Point, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes and the many scenic areas in between – all in one week!
September 2017 – China Trip with Environmental Consulting Group
Leaders of a local Syracuse environmental consulting group traveled with Tech Bridge International to Beijing and Xi’an, China during September, 2017. The purpose of the trip was to attend prearranged meetings with a Chinese environmental services company, a Beijing-area state owned company that handles hazardous materials and a new Beijing environmental association to explore opportunities for collaboration. Sightseeing was a secondary goal for our travelers on their first visit to China.
The trip was a success on all accounts. We had cordial meetings with all three organizations, visited work sites for three projects, discussed specific opportunities for collaboration and managed to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Great Wall and a temple dedicated to Laozi (Lao-tse), one of the founders of Taoism, a philosophy and religion that predates Buddhism in China.
